Monica Abel has opened a Home Video Studio location there and with our help is now offering all the services we offered in Mount Dora. We are beginning to wrap things up here. As such, we can no longer accept any new orders. We’ll be spending the rest of the month finishing the jobs that are already in queue and calling any clients who have yet to pick up the orders we have completed for them. Rest assured, we will not leave until all orders have been completed.

Owning Home Video Studio has been a wonderful 10 year adventure for us and we couldn’t leave without expressing our deepest appreciation for all those who frequented our doors. You did far more than simply give us work… you trusted us with your family memories and allowed us the privilege of preserving them for you.

And, if you could indulge me just a little, I’d like to share a perspective I have formed over the past 10 years spent transferring your films, tapes, and pictures. It may seem that we live in a broken, dysfunctional, and oftentimes fragmented world. The division or rampant polarization that exists today seems almost designed to keep people separated and distant. But I can honestly say that the memories that people brought in to have preserved were remarkably similar in nature.

Whether they be birthdays or graduations, vacations or holidays… sporting events or dance recitals... It would appear that at our core… in our hearts of hearts… we all care about the same things. We all value the same things. We all want to remember the same things. In this we are more alike than we are different. So if you ever get to thinking that there is someone with whom you have absolutely nothing in common… take the time to sit down with them and watch each other’s home videos. You’ll discover that you have more in common than you thought. And finding common ground with others has never been more important.

It has been our privilege to be of service to you and we look forward to seeing you around town in the weeks, months and years to come.

Whoa! August already? How time flies when faced with retirement! There’s one more month to go until Kate and I ride off into the sunset. We are still able to take a few new orders but don’t wait long. We’ll have to cut it off in the next week or two to make sure we can finish up.

Now the bad news… despite our pricing the studio at a fraction of its value, I have not yet been able to turn up a committed buyer. Personally, I don’t get it. But then again, it is a niche industry that may not appeal to everyone. I just know I had a blast these last 10 years running it. Our small studio brings in sales averaging 100K to 120K per year on just word of mouth alone. I’ve got the business listed at 50K so I consider it a steal at that price.

But with only one more month to go, I am making a last ditch effort to appeal to that special person who wants to take advantage of the most cost effective way to jump into a ready made business. For 30 grand, I will let that person take ownership of all the equipment and furniture I use in the running of my Home Video Studio business. If they continue operation here in the Mount Dora/Eustis/Tavares area, they can also retain the name, 5 star reputation, website and access to the HVS network. 30K for a 120K business. It doesn’t get better than this. And the only reason I'm choosing to do this is because I am trying to leave this community with someone in place to continue offering this invaluable service.

But that someone has to act quickly. As the end of the month approaches, I’ll have to start selling off the equipment piece by piece to interested buyers. I’ve already got a waiting list starting.

Short week.

We will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (July 23rd-25th) this week - but closed for the next four days so we may attend our 10th (and final!) Home Video Studio Getaway Convention… this year in Clearwater.

We will reopen on Tuesday, July 30th at our normal hours (9:30am - 5pm).

But please be aware that the countdown now begins in earnest. We will be retiring at the end of August and may have to stop accepting orders at some point during that month to make sure we give ourselves time to finish everything. So if you have been putting off a visit to us with memories you need to protect and preserve, my suggestion is to come in sooner rather than later.

The question I keep getting since I announced our pending retirement is, "Are you still accepting orders?" The answer is a resounding YES! The whole reason we announced so early was so people could have an opportunity to bring in their projects before we retire. We're working in the studio Tuesday - Saturday through August so bring in your film, tapes, audio, and photos/negatives/slides. Our mother, Barbara Parish Ondrasik, known to all as Pally, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024 at the age of 95.

Pally, a long standing and respected member of the Episcopal Church, was an accomplished writer and editor working for the Montgomery County Public Schools. She once wrote an article on behalf of the League of Families of American Prisoners in Southeast Asia that was read into the US Congressional Record. Despite her literary accomplishments and awards, she was most proud of her family to whom she was devoted; especially her three children: Allison, Michael, and Barbara (Bobbi), two grandchildren: Julie and Craig, and two great-grandchildren: Finn and Jace.

Pally will be interred next to her husband, Edward John Ondrasik, in a private service at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support.

Omg, is it just me or is time moving faster? There are now just 3 months left before we begin our retirement. The good news is that we are working right up until the end so if you have film, videotapes, audio recordings, photos, negatives or slides that you need to convert to digital files, there is still time to get them to us. But be aware that the time is growing shorter. So check your closets and storage units for those forgotten memories before it is too late. We’re here to answer your questions.

I am happy to see people taking advantage of our services while there is still time. We plan on retiring in about 4 months.
