We collected lots of gravel, we sifted and classified all the rock, we concentrated the heavy minerals with a saruca, we looked through tiny stone pebbles and we did finally find a DIAMOND! Mining for these elusive and valuable gemstones at the Crater of Diamonds State Park certainly requires dedication, labor, patience and luck.
This is the only place in the world where the public can dig their own diamonds and it’s a finders keeper! Located near Murfreesboro in Western Arkansas, this rockhounding site attracts visitors from all parts of the world.

The new look at Crystal Vista.
The forest service completed a work project at this free crystal digging location in September: Massive clear cuts and bulldozing of the digging area, installation of boundary fencing and signage, barriers along the slopes and an improved path are among the changes.

This mine is located in Central Arkansas right beside the famous Jeffery Stone Quarry in North Little Rock which was the site of the discovery of solution quartz. Solution quartz crystals are highly sought after and rare.
The best crystals to come from this site have the following characteristics: they are water clear with magnificent luster, they are mostly double- or extra-terminated, they may be interlocked in clusters called haystacks, and they can be found in combination with any of several other minerals such as cookeite, ankerite, and fluorapatite.
We found some beautiful and very unique crystals at this location and it is open to the public so you can dig there too!

Some of our finds from Flash Mountain Crystal Mine.
We had a blast digging at this location in Central Arkansas and found some rare specimen of solution quartz, faden-crystals, ET points, curved quartz and more. The full mining experience can now be watched on YouTube.

A few of the beautiful crystal finds from a pocket dig at Hamilton Hill Mine I did a while ago. The full video is now available on YouTube.
This mine is operated by and they do occasional digs there. It’s a great location where one can find Adularia-included Quartz, Phantom Crystals and an abundance of large Clear Quartz Crystals.
