A common question is how John uses a table saw safely. Here is a condensed explanation of how he prepares a cut.
He says he still breaks out into a cold sweat occasionally šŸ˜†

Video description: John stands at a table saw in his wood shop. He shows how he gauges the distance between the blade and the fence with his hand. He holds up his hands at the end to show he’s still got all ten fingers.

For John Furniss, woodworking isn’t about what you see—it’s about what you feel. After losing his sight in 2005, he turned to woodcraft, mastering the art of shaping, sanding, and sculpting stunning pieces by touch alone.

His story is proof that creativity knows no limits!

To learn more about his journey, purchase "The Blindwoodsman Book," co-written by John and his wife, Anni. Available for purchase here: https://loom.ly/OaV8k0o

video description: John works in his woodshop choosing chisels to work with. He holds the chisel up to a wood piece as it spins on a lathe. The chisel carves away wood and creates groove patterns. Sawdust falls in slow motion. He cuts off the top of the wood to create a lid. He scoops out wood from the center to create a bowl. He holds up a finished salt cellar and smiles. A book cover is shown with John on the cover. He is blind and has his eyes closed. He has long curly brown hair. The book is titled ā€œThe Blind Woodsman: One Man’s Journey to Find Purpose on the Other Side of Darknessā€
