HUNTER WRIGHT SET FOR ALABAMA 200 FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL SPEEDWEEKS RUN
Coming off seven feature races in the Pro Late Model division at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) during Daytona's famed Speedweeks events just over a week ago, the Day Racing Products, 31-W Insulation and B H Holmes Construction Co. team of Nashville's Hunter Wright, has announced their entry into the 56th Annual Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway on March 7.
The famous "Hunt for the Bear" and the first race of the track's "Show Me the Money" series for 2020, brings the nation’s top Pro Late Model drivers together in a grueling fender-to-fender 200-lap (100-mile) event on south Alabama's half-mile asphalt oval.
Wright, who finished well inside the top-10 in cumulative event points at New Smyrna of over 20 Pro Late Model drivers three countries, says he learned a lot at the event, his first trip there, and hopes to take the knowledge the team has gathered thus far and improve at Montgomery.
"We really learned a lot at New Smyrna. I made a few mistakes, but those taught me how to execute better. We had bad luck one night and had to repair the race car, but overall, I was very pleased with the outcome and most gracious for the opportunity to drive a good race car put under me by Day Racing Products. Wayne Day and Justin Ashburn are veterans, and I'd put them up against anyone in the business. It was a great test for me as a driver running seven straight races over eight nights. I think we gained a lot and I'm really excited for this chance at Montgomery; this is a really big, well-respected Pro Late Model event as well."
The 2019 U.S. Legend Cars International and INEX Tennessee State Champion and National runner up in the Semi-Pro Asphalt division, announced his intentions earlier to run a complete season at historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and the possibility of other regional races to be announced.
"We've been very fortunate with our success the past several years in the U. S. Legends cars, and started running a Pro Late Model race here and there last year to try and grow our program. While we won't get the chance to run as many Legends races this year, I am certainly excited for the opportunity to continue our Pro Late Model program by running at Nashville and maybe some other places."
