Rudder Productions/Music City Films

Rudder Productions/Music City Films We are currently packaging two feature films and a possible PBS series on Nashville music history.

I have been involved in arts and entertainment world in one capacity or another for 25 years. While teaching college English and journalism, I wrote for dozens of publications such The Washington Post, Home Life, Christian Single, Parent Life, The Nashville Business Journal, Country Weekly, Bluegrass Unlimited, Nashville Lifestyles and others. I also worked for several years as a writer/producer f

or The Christian Broadcasting Network, and in 2009, went out on my own as a full-time writer and producer. Most recently, I authored Chicken Soup for the Soul: Country Music edition (2011) which includes interviews with the songwriters of 101 classic country, folk, and bluegrass songs over the past 60 years. I also co-producer the documentary 40 Years on the Farm, a historical retrospective of The Farm cooperative community in Summertown, TN, which we hope to air onPBS this year. Finally, I have written four screenplays which I am pitching to several independent film companies (and even a studio or two!)

Our new company name is Page Three Productions, but I am clueless as to how to edit that on the header. Every time I click 'edit" it just gives me the option to change the photos and address etc..

Christ Pres Academy’s new theater is really amazing. State of the art stuff. Saw The Hiding Place there today presented by The Rabbit Room theater group and it was great. I highly recommend seeing it in the next week if you can. Of course it’s a sad story but ultimately redemptive. (Hint: if you sign up to be an usher or scan tickets or work concessions you can see it for free and save a hundred bucks or so)
I like to think since I paid four years’ tuition for my daughter there that I probably paid for a few of these seats at least!

I noticed at least a dozen songs that were in my "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Country Music" edition, including "Long Black Veil," "Wichita Lineman," and "I Fall to Pieces," have been referenced in the Ken Burns PBS series on country music so far.

Readers will get an inside look at the personal stories behind their favorite country songs as songwriters get up close and personal with exclusive stories about how and why they wrote them.Songs tell a story, and now many of country music’s most famous singers and songwriters are sharing m...

In this interview, Brian talks about the challenges of taking Lee Strobel's well-researched tome and making it a feature film with engaging characters and a great story, rather than a PBS-style series.

I've always loved teaching the workshop on Writing Your Life Stories at Brentwood and Nashville Libraries and other places. I obviously loved writing my own essay collection, "Disposable Thoughts," so I thought I would start a blog/podcast where I hope to interview other authors, and offer helpful articles on writing essay and memoir, and eventually maybe develop an online course download. So here it is. https://tellingyourlifestories.com/

A blog/podcast about writing memoir, personal essays, and autobiography

If there were ever any doubts, as there was in 2003 with Passion of the Christ, and again in 2008 with Fireproof, as to whether the spike in faith-based film viewership is an anomaly or a temporary fad, the activity over the past two months should put them to rest. USA Today recently ran this story on the popularity of the genre. [ 407 more words ]

It may not be the biggest budget Christian film of the year, but it very well may be the most important. On Friday, March 21, God's Not Dead, a PureFlix Entertainment original, starring Kevin Sorbo and Shane Harper, opens in nearly 1,000 theaters. The film features a live rendition of the song of the same name performed by the Newsboys and a cameo appearance by Willie and Korie Robertson of the hit A & E series, Duck Dynasty.
