We’re diving into my personal archives with this one. I loved this cookbook as a kid and I still love it now. Growing up, the lasagna & minestrone recipes were family favorites. Forty years later, my daughter has her eye on a couple of the desserts!

Who knew a tent could be so exciting?!

I certainly didn't. But the fourth graders did.

Let’s talk about the power of authenticity. Authenticity is real. True. And when it comes to objects, it might just be what turns something ordinary into something extraordinary. On today’s episode, I’ll be sharing a very creative example of how one museum decided to interpret one of their most special artifacts, to great success.

This old tintype is damaged. What should I do? This old tintype has experienced some environmental damage! What should I do? I chose to use a thick polyester envelope to store this image. I needed a storage solution that was sturdy and transparent. However, static inside the envelope could cause the weak parts of the image to detach from the original. There are often multiple storage options available to you. Remember your needs and goals and make the decision that is best for you!

Do you know what a school librarian does all day? How about a Librarian in charge of *four* school libraries? District Library Media Specialist Jill Sullivan-Bennin joined me on the podcast to talk about the many (many) hats she wears every day at the Sherrard Community School District in Western Illinois.Jill has overseen the library activities for all four buildings in her rural school district since 2014. Jill and her small staff of library aids have developed a robust library program and as the only dedicated, full-time library staff for the entire district, she definitely wears many hats. Working in a small school district, especially one with a large geographical footprint like Sherrard’s, has its own challenges and opportunities, which Jill shares with us.Jill received a Bachelor's Degree in English Education from Augustana College, a masters degree in Reading from Western Illinois University, and a Certificate in School Librarianship/Library Information Specialist from Illinois State University.
She has been associated with the Sherrard Community School District since 2000. From 2000 until 2007 she taught junior high and later, high school English. From 2007-2010 Jill was a District Reading Specialist, before returning to the high school classroom, where she stayed until transitioning to the library in 2014.

Have you ever seen anything like this? My November, 1958 Bells are Ringing playbill has something pretty unique about it.

Also, fun fact! I was in my high school production of Bells are Ringing 41 years later. 😉
