I started something. I tried a Blackwing pencil and I love it. My Blackwing 602, erases cleanly, doesn’t smudge, and has a nice weight in my hand.

I’m old. When I write, I draft with pencil and paper before I move to the computer.

Panic started to set in a little as my pencil started getting shorter and shorter. Fortunately, the internet came to my rescue.

I found some less expensive pencils that folks swear work like my precious. I mean my Blackwing 602. 😄

I’ll share the results of my experiments when the pencils arrive.

Welp, I guess I didn’t make the cut for the rapture. The good news is that I’ll have time to complete my fall personal curriculum. I’ve had some ideas about knitting garment construction I’ve wanted to explore for a while. I’m also planning some writing projects.

What’s on your fall reading list?

Let me start by saying that I love a good haul as much as the next person. I get a thrill out of seeing all the stuff, even if I’m
not the one doing the shopping.

I went to NJ Sheep and Fiber Show with the intention of shopping. I didn’t realize that I hadn’t bought any yarn until I got home.
At most fiber festivals, the majority of the yarn will be hand-dyed, fingering-weight. As always, there were many gorgeous skeins. I didn’t see any yarn that aligned with the projects I have in mind for the fall/winter season.

Instead of buying pretty skeins to pad my stash, I focused on filling gaps in my tools and notions. I also picked up some inspiration in the form of an issue of Laine magazine.

I thought I’d feel a little disappointed because I left the fiber festival without a fiber purchase. It turns out that shopping a little bit more intentionally brings its own rewards.

I’ve replaced reflectively ordering from Amazon with seeking out other buying options.

My idea is to shop local first, then branch out to other online retailers.

Omoi Life Goods is my new, local spot for Japanese stationary. Funny thing is that I would never have found this shop if I hadn’t moved on from Amazon.

Omoi also ships. When I don’t want to trek into Philly, I can shop online.

I got a Blackwing pencil, some extra small correction tape runners, a pack of puppy-shaped sticky notes, and a stamp shaped like a hand knit sweater. It’s like they knew I was coming.

I found out about a new-to-me Japanese stationary store in . I have passion for stationary in general, but Japanese stationary is the best.

As you can from my carousel, I did a little bit of sight seeing on my way to .

Maybe it’s just that it’s back to school and my inner child wants a fresh new notebook and shiny pencils.

Omni, delivered! They had the new Hobonichis, all the Traveler’s Notebook accessories, and a great selection of Midori notebooks.

I don’t gate keep. Vera at is having her Semi-Annual Clearance Sale and I’m blaming Cryss for any yarn I may have purchased.

I got enough yarn for a duster coat and a summer tee.

PS—The sale ends August 31st.

Let’s just say our visit to in went really well. 🥮👍
