Good afternoon from Texas! ☀️

90° and beautiful out here today. Couldn’t ask for much better weather to be flying LiDAR!

Wrapping up just under 2,000 acres today before making the long haul back home to Michigan.

Got to watch the sunrise over the site this morning, and at this rate, we might just catch the sunset out here too. 😅

Long days in the field, but I wouldn’t trade the opportunity to do what we do.

Sometimes the weather gives you an opportunity you just can’t pass up. 🛫

On Thursday, LIDAR Drone Services completed thermal roof inspections at Westfield Middle and Elementary Schools. Conditions during the inspection were solid and we captured great data, but there hadn’t been any recent rainfall. 📸

Then I checked the forecast. 🌧️

Rain the next day, followed by sunshine. ☀️

So we’re going back. 🚙💨

We offered to recapture the roofs at no additional charge so we can compare the datasets and take another look at the new and repaired sections under conditions that are near perfect for identifying potential moisture intrusion. 🤓

A big thank you to our client for coordinating with the schools and being willing to give us the opportunity to do it! 🫡

I genuinely enjoy opportunities like this. Good thermal work isn’t just about collecting images. It’s about understanding the conditions, recognizing when you have an opportunity to learn more, and collecting the best data possible for the people relying on it. 📝

Looking forward to putting these datasets side by side. 🔎

Third and final Texas trip for September. 🤠

Closing out the month with another round of thermal and LiDAR data collection. 🛫

Texas has kept us busy this month, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Now we just need the Gulf weather to cooperate long enough to get the work done. 😅⛈️

One more Texas run. Let’s finish strong. 🫡

Another busy couple weeks ahead for the LDS crew. 🛫

This week we’ve got solar work in Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, casino capture in Wisconsin, on top of our construction site monitoring, and our weekly 1,500-acre mapping project here in Michigan.

Next week, it’s off to Commercial UAV Expo in Vegas, then two is us we pack up and roll out as we have a few Texas sites waiting when we get back. ☀️

So today is all about updating, cleaning, and smudging the fleet. Batteries charging, firmware updated, sensors cleaned, gear organized, and everything getting a once-over before the miles start adding up.

A lot of different missions. A lot of different environments. Same goal every time: show up prepared and deliver. Every. Single. Time. 🫡

The birds are ready. Time to fly. 🛫

Scaling one operator to many aircraft isn’t a slide — it’s a waiver, a connectivity budget, a maintenance cadence, and a crew that can troubleshoot a dock 900 miles away. Falcon operates a nationwide FAA BVLOS waiver authorizing one pilot to twelve aircraft, and we’ve flown over 100,000 automated flights off DJI Dock 3 units across utility-scale solar.
I plan to talk about what actually breaks at scale, and what we changed because of it.
