Freshman Olivia Hinton of Montague, a Golden Eagle Charter School graduate, placed sixth overall in the women’s race with a time of 25:12. With only the top seven placing, COS freshman Ty Brown set a personal record time of 24:35 to take seventh in the men’s race.

Noah Snell was named homecoming king and Moriah Cornett was named homecoming queen. Snell, the Tigers' starting quarterback, rushed for 200-plus yards and had two touchdowns.

Due to COVID-19, Butte Valley called off their game at Dunsmuir High on Tuesday. Dunsmuir was able to find a last-minute opponent for the homecoming night game on Friday. They will now face Tulelake. The homecoming ceremony is at 7 p.m., with the game having a 7:30 p.m. start time.

Things are on the upswing for the Dunsmuir Tigers 8-man football team. On Friday, the Tigers cruised to a 62-6 road win at the Westwood Lumberjacks to improve to 2-1 for the year. The week before, Dunsmuir defeated Hayfork 28-14 for its first win since 2018, and first home win since 2016.

Senior Ryan Mitchell of W**d High School came in first with a time of 16:11.55. He was followed in second place by Mount Shasta High senior runner Drew Hering, who finished with a time of 16:36.61.

As an old proverb says, “Good things come to those who wait.” The Dunsmuir Tigers eight-man football team certainly hopes that is the case this season – and they're off to a good start. The Tigers defeated the Hayfork Timberjacks at home Friday night 28-14 to improve to 1-1 for the year.

It was the first victory for DHS since downing Happy Camp on the road 32-24 on Oct. 19 2018.

With a young team this year, College of the Siskiyous head football coach Tyler Knudsen knew there would be some hiccups in their first game of the season Saturday against No. 25 ranked Diablo Valley.

There were indeed bumps in the Eagle's 31-3 loss. However, Knudsen said their goal is to improve and learn from their mistakes.
