We know some parts of the Old Dominion have been a bit dry in late August, but the Virginia Field Office of the National Ag Statistics Service reports 99% of Virginia corn for grain in fair to excellent condition as of Tuesday, September 2. Peanuts and cotton are lookin' mighty fine as well.

Ag news from around the Eastern U.S.

A new video series is being offered to encourage agritourism in North Carolina. The video series will cover topics including the Top 5 Marketing Strategies to Take Your Business to the Next Level, and Designing and Executing Your Annual Strategic Plan.

Kentucky farmers donated nearly a million dollars for the Ag Tag Program in 2025. State officials say the Ag Tag program benefits 4-H and FFA members.

PA farmers will soon be harvesting the 2025 apple crop. Varieties coming in during the month of September include Gala, Honey Crisp, and Empire.

Virginia farmers are looking back on relatively good weather this summer. If favorable conditions continue, Virginia may set new yield records for corn and soybeans.

Major announcement from EPA. . .

Now farm tractors, combines and sprayers can be configured so there is no impact on engine power for up to 36 hours when a DEF system malfunction occurs, and a farmer has up to 100 engine hours at 25% power reduction before a 50% reduction takes hold.
