Both Mount Vernon Baseball and Softball split doubleheaders with CCA Monday at home. Varsity Baseball lost game one 9-5, and won game two 9-6. Varsity Softball won the first game 2-0, and lost the second 9-1.

Mount Vernon Varsity Baseball won both over Center Point Urbana 7-6, 13-5. The Mustangs head to Bellvue on Wednesday to play Marquette Catholic.

Mount Vernon Softball won both games June 8 against Center Point Urbana 6-1, 6-2. Mount Vernon (13-1) plays at Marion (9-3) on Wednesday, then at IC Regina (8-3) on Friday before returning home to play CCA June 15.

Mount Vernon edges out Solon 1-0 with a goal by Jaxon Anderson to advance to state quarterfinals held 5 p.m. Monday June 1 at Gilbert where the #5 Mustangs will play #4 Bishop Heelan.

#2 Boys 1600m SMR (3A) Toby Neal, Logan Stanerson, Holden Hlavacek, Dawson Scheil, set a new school record of 3:28.40! They also set a new 2026 High School Outdoor High School Rankings #20
2026 Iowa Outdoor High School Rankings #11.

#4 in 4x800: Chasen Caskey, Logan Ericson, Ben Brinkmann, and Dawson Scheil ran 7:55.47 in the 4x800 to finish 4th in New '26 IA #16 setting a new school record.
