Just a little roosterly love this morning. ❤️ We've been working hard to try and wrap up all the things that need to happen before the PNW weather turns back to grey and wet, which included getting all the chickens moved to new ground. Have you ever tried to stretch out 100'x100' bird netting? 🫠 I don't recommend it. 😆 But all in all, we are nearly done, and will have 5-6 separate groups for next year: silkies, Yokohamas, BBS Marans, Ermine Ameraucana, and Easter/Olive eggers through out. Still trying to figure out if this little legbar roo is going to get separated off with his own group of ladies though. 💕

Still working on bringing in the flowers for drying, and today's victim was the sweet Annie. This stuff makes such a fun, whimsical addition to arrangements and art pieces, and can you believe all of this came from one plant?! 😆 Still a few more to go.

Felt good to get out in the garden this morning and really scope how things are doing. I've over achieved with onions this year. 🤣 Tomatoes are plugging away, and while very late, we may have some pumpkins coming! 🤞🏻 Any PNWers want to let me know if it's too late to try and squeeze in a fall round of brassicas and lettuce? 😆 Basically my mode of operation this year seems to be late, at best.

It's not much, but it's a start. ❤️🍄 Super excited for mushroom season this year!

Every year there's something that does terrible in the garden, and something that does remarkably well. 😆 It's unpredictable, sometimes a great surprise and sometimes and massive disappointment. This year my "thing" that is doing surprisingly well is everlasting flowers! 😍

I made a conscious effort to shoot for varieties that my daughter uses a lot in her artwork, and they have gone absolutely wild! This is just this mornings haul, trying to catch them before the heat sets in, But has got to be at least my fourth or fifth big haul in about this size. 💚🌱

It's my and my husbands anniversary, and someone brought us 9 little tiny gifts from a nest in the forest. 😆 It was very unexpected, but appreciated.

We've made it to cherry tomato season! 😆

I haven't been in the garden much the last week or so, just kind of doing the bare minimum while I throw myself head first in to some bigger glass projects for a benefit auction and catch up some on some long over due tasks now that we have made it out of "babies in brooders" season.

I'm grateful that the garden has been able to keep on plugging away even while I've been a bit neglectful. 💚

Just a little cuteness overload for you. 💕🥹

The last few days have been a little rough, but a small silver lining.. we have moved all the babies out and the brooders are empty for the first time since March. I really love baby season, but also.. it's just exhausting. 😅

Next year we will have a bigger variety of call duck colors, more multigenerational olive eggers, pure Legbars, BBS Marans, and ermine Ameraucanas.

It's fun to watch the changes that the flock goes through throughout the year. Breeding season is coming to a close and Queen Arnold's crest is getting back to that luxurious, pillowy puff. Mr. Lemony's head is slowly changing to dull brown, and I'm just a wee bit grateful for maybe a little less chaos in the duck yard. 😆
