Preliminary evidence gathered strongly supports that Amy Finney died from a gunshot wound during a domestic dispute with John Finney at their home. John Finney was arrested for the crime of First-Degree Murder and incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail to await his pretrial detention hearing.

The CHS Coaches Show is on the radio tonight at 6. Centralia Orphans head football coach Brad Goewey will talk about the win at Salem Friday and look ahead to the Orphans home opener this Friday night vs Collinsville.

The Centralia Orphans won the 73rd Shrine Game Friday night at Jim Finks Field in Salem against the host Wildcats 42-0.

It didn't take long for Centralia to score, just 50 seconds into the game QB Archie Goewey found WR Kenny Bratton on a 19-yd play to make it 7-0. The Orphans would score on their next drive as Goewey found Bratton again this time a 34-yd pass play. After the Orphans recovered a Salem fumble, you guessed it, Goewey to Bratton a 24-yd td. The Orphans weren't done in the first half as Goewey completed a 18-yd TD pass to WR Zaidyn McClain. Centralia led 28-0 at the half.

Centralia Senior RB Mike Brown would would score on a 5-yard run to make it 35-0. The Orphans would score one more touchdown, a big 48 yard run from RB Will Stanton.

QB Archie Goewey would finish 13/21, 192 yds and 4 TD.
WR Kenny Bratton 4 catches for 84 yds and 3 TD.
RB Mike Brown 13 carries for 84 yds and 1 TD.

The Orphans host 0-1 Collinsville Friday night at Evers Field.

Shrine Game Ticket Sales:

Tickets for the 2025 Shrine Game, held at Salem High School – Jim Finks Field on Friday, August 29, will be available for purchase at CHS Athletic Office during the following times:

Wednesday, August 27: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Thursday, August 28: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Friday, August 29: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Ticket Prices (Cash Only):
Adults: $5
Students: $2

Tickets will also be sold at Salem High School – Jim Finks Field beginning at 5:30 PM on game day.

Please Note:
Pre-purchased ticket holders will be able to enter the stadium through a designated entrance, allowing them to bypass the ticket booth line.
