When I need to check on the younger grow-outs in the colony, I toss their favorite spinach leaves in. One of our breeding does was found unalived a few weeks back. Luckily, her litter was old enough to be on feed when that happened. They are more shy than Daisy's litters. I think their not having a mom has made them a bit skittish. On an up note, we have some hutches built in the bigger colony. These will move into the bigger colony and Bugs can have his man-cave colony back.

Well, after a day of recovery, I'm happy to announce that chicken processing day yielded 120.69lbs of chicken from 20 birds. Took us about 8 hours as we have never done this before. This was our smallest weighing in at 3.81lbs. Our largest was 7.57lbs. We harvested at 8 weeks and a couple days. Our freezer is full!

We have a hen, Pip, that went broody while sitting on 2 ceramic eggs and 1 of her own. So... not wanting her to waste time and energy on just one, we put some more eggs from the flock under her....and she stole a couple more somehow. One has hatched!! And she has more viable ones under her. Finger crossed that we get some more. 🤞🐣🐥
