Africa Human Capital Development Plus in collaboration with the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Conrad Sackey held a fruitful " Education Advocacy Dinner" at Fillie Faboe Hall in Kono District.

Speaking on behalf of the council of Paramount Chiefs in Kono District, the regent chief in kamara Chiefdom Charles Quee lauded the initiative of the Education Advocacy Dinner in discussing issues of education in the district. He pledged the council's support whilst commending Finda Koroma for creating the platform.
In her statement, the Chief Executive Officer Africa Human Capital Development Plus (HCD+) Madam Finda Koroma said the event is not talking about the gains in education in Kono but also a collective commitment to education equity and transformative for every child in Sierra Leone. She reiterated HCD mission to support the government in increasing investment in human capital development through better systems, strong institutions, and evidence base development.
Madam Finda Koroma appreciated President Julius Maada Bio's government for the free quality school education program launched in 2018. She stated that the initiative has created massive access to education for children across the country and contributed to breach the gender parity gaps in basic education.
She elucidated on the role played by the former minister of Basic and Secondary Education Dr. David Moina Sengeh in supporting the people of Kono District in the right trajectory on education.
The CEO, Africa Human Capital Development Plus Finda Koroma thanked the minister of Basic and Secondary Education Conrad Sackey for naming one of the school constructed by government in her name as a testament of her contributions in education.
She informed the gathering that Sierra Leone has ranked 151 out of 157 on the human capital index, which is not good for the country. She called on government and other partners to work with human capital development to scale issues around human capital development to change the narrative of such scored.
Madam Finda Koroma said ECOWAS has consented through a request to provide huge amount of money for the construction of clinic with modern facilities at the Kono University of Science and Technology which will also benefit the community people and also the human development department and social sectors will also construct factory in kono that will produce sanitary pad for the girl child to guarantee their retention in school.
Launching the Education Advocacy Dinner, the minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey, said the platform has created direct contact with stakeholders and leaders in education in the district.
The minister said the Partnership with Africa Human Capital Development on this maiden Advocacy Dinner has triggered feedback from stakeholders and schoolsadministrators. He lauded the initiative of the CEO, Africa Human Capital Development Plus, Madam Finda, for her relentless support in supporting education in the district.
He spoke about the government commitment to support education in the country, citing the massive recruitment of teachers, reassessment of teachers, and the current installation of solar panels to enhance connectivity targeting 500 schools across the country.
Minister Conrad Sackey further started that the government has secured funds to re-engage school drop out to bring them back into the education system. He called on school leaders and non-government organisations to support the government to continue to strengthen and provide access to quality education for every child in Sierra Leone.
