Counter protests held on Mansfield square June 6, 2026
(Editor's Note: These photos are to document the counter protests held on the square in Mansfield on June 6. After counting four times by 11:40 a.m. there were just around 200 people who showed up for this event on the square. In making a focused observation of who people were appeared to be supporting, I counted around 120 present in support of the Community Values Alliance and about 80 were actively showing their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Comes to about a 60/40 split. Both sides stayed pretty respectful while I was there and there appeared to be some positive dialogue taking place at different parts of the square. During the event, some preaching was held around the bandstand. Pride protesters then countered at points with some loud cheers. Around 40 minutes of the day included the alliance singing some spiritual hymns. Those were followed by more preaching and supporters from both sides coming a little closer in proximity. At one point, members of the alliance locked arms to form a wall in front of whoever was preaching from the Bible. The event was scheduled from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. We will be sharing the thoughts of organizers on both side of the protests in our article set to appear in the June 10 issue of the Wright County Journal.)
