🌧️ SATURDAY FORECAST — NASTY, RAW, WINDY & WET!

Get ready for a cold, miserable day across the Twin Lakes region!
Expect periods of rain, chilly temps in the 40s and low 50s, and north winds gusting up to 30 MPH, making it feel even colder.

💨 The combination of rain, wind, and temperatures near 50° will make for a raw and uncomfortable Saturday — perfect day to stay inside if you can.

☔ Keep the umbrella handy and plan for a blustery, damp day with limited sunshine.

Happy Thanksgiving! Here’s a wonderful story from our friend Eva Wenzel of Mountain Home. We love local stories! What’s yours? Send us a message for a chance to be featured on our page!

Meet Tom the turkey pictured here in 1966 with young Adam. He became the Wenzel family’s household pet after becoming very protective of their sons Adam and Eric. He would chase away anyone that would try to get in their yard.

Tom grew to a whopping 45 pounds which was certainly intimidating!

Eva jokingly says he was too large to put in the oven, so he lived out his days as our pet.

Tom lived to an old age, and even in old age, he continued to guard the brothers. Eva says he made the loudest warning gobble, warning folks not to go near the boys.

Many years later Tom passed peacefully in the Wenzel’s yard.

Thinking About Deep-Frying Your Turkey This Thanksgiving? Here are some safety reminders you don’t want to skip:

• Do it outside — away from your house, deck, or garage
• Completely THAW and DRY the turkey before it hits the oil (water = dangerous splatter)
• Don’t overfill the fryer — check the oil level with water beforehand
• Turn off the burner when lowering the turkey in
• Wear gloves & keep a fire extinguisher handy — not water!
• Slow and steady — take your time lowering the turkey
• Keep kids and pets back from the fryer zone
• Stay with it until the fryer is off and the oil cools down

Deep-fried turkeys are delicious — just make sure the only thing getting crispy-skinned this holiday is the turkey!
