On Saturday night, October11, the Lawton-Bronson Music Dept. hosted their annual Tunes & Treats at the Bronson Elementary Commons. The concert band played, the high school choir sang, and there were several individual solos both instrumental and vocal. They served cupcakes and bars and beverages and played three rounds of trivia in between the musical groups. It was a fun event.

Sioux City Community School District Board of Directors and Sioux City Council Candidate Forums Wednesday, October 8, 2025 5:45 PM and 7:30 PM

The League of Women Voters Sioux City is sponsoring the Sioux City Community School District Board of Directors and Sioux City Council Candidates Forum to inform the public about candidates’ positions prior to the November 4, 2025 elections. This year both forums will be held on the same night. The School Board Forum will begin at 5:45 and the City Council Forum will begin at 7:30. Both Candidate Forums will be held at Western Iowa Tech Community College, Rocklin Center, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
There are seven candidates for the School District Board of Directors and there will be six finalists for the City Council after the previous day's Council Primary Election.
Panelists for the School Board Forum will be from the League of Women Voters Sioux City, Mayor’s Youth Commission, and KWIT.
Panelists for the Sioux City Council Forum will include representatives of the League of Women Voters, the local press club, and the community.
