Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to give some clarification on the new name of the Dojo.
For decades our group was known as “The Bushido Dojo”. Many founding members that were a huge part in developing that group have passed on or life has taken them away.
We have always trained with an open mind, continually testing techniques, strategies and theories. Not holding onto anything just because “that is the way it was always done.” Not ignoring history and wisdom from the generations before at the same time.
Shoshin is the concept of a beginners mind. This is taught in many dojo but rarely adhered to. This way of thinking is to approach your training as you did as a beginner. Not physically so much but keeping an open mind to learn and to train and learn with enthusiasm. Kan simply means school or training hall.
Shoshinkan- no matter the level of experience we all keep an open mind to learn, to keep the mindset of limitless possibilities and to train with enthusiasm. See you on the deck!

Good morning, the Dojo is coming along nicely. Next week, along with working on the Dojo, I will start preparing some of the instructors for classes. We will be bringing you the trusted practical Karate we have brought you for the last 25+ years. The only difference is a more honed curriculum and less but more focused kata. See you on the deck!
