FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Statement on Fatal Crash Involving Deputy

Delaware County, IN November 12th 2025

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is deeply saddened to confirm that one of our deputies was killed this morning in a tragic crash on Interstate 69 near the 247-mile marker.

Preliminary information indicates that the deputy was assisting a stranded motorist along the interstate when his patrol vehicle was struck by a northbound semi-truck. Despite immediate emergency response efforts, the deputy did not survive his injuries.

The Indiana State Police is leading the investigation into the crash. Out of respect for the ongoing investigation and the family’s privacy, no further details are being released at this time.

This is a heartbreaking loss for our law enforcement family and for the entire Delaware County community. We are grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers from the public and thank all the assisting agencies who responded to this tragic scene.

All inquiries related to the crash investigation should be directed to the Indiana State Police.
