Third and final show about to start. There is something deeply profound to me about sharing the stage with 75 musicians who have each dedicated their lives to mastering the instruments they hold in their hands. I feel very grateful to be a part of it. Of course it is super fun to play and sing with them but the most rewarding aspect for me is to hear my arrangements played so beautifully. Also, the Greenville Symphony is a class act

Senior living gig tonight with Kristin Bell Lelm. Thanks for the recommendation, Jill Greenman!

While I was playing solo piano Christmas music during dinner an elderly gentlemen approached me and said, “do you know “Where Or When?” And then he launched into singing it. I found his key and accompanied him as best I could. He told me he was going to be 91 in a couple of months and that he was a heck of a singer 40 years ago. Then he asked if I knew “How About You?” and launched into that one right away as well. Again I followed him. We did a couple more this way.

Then he said “do you know Where or When?” And the whole cycle repeated itself word for word. Same song requests and same exact banter in between. We did three rotations of this before his wife came and got him.

This exact thing happened about 20 minutes later. I just decided to roll with it and that that was my mission tonight, unbeknownst to me.

Also, I have now the chord changes DOWN to all the songs on his list and in his keys

Chloe is writing new stuff every day. I am not involved in this process in any fashion except for the occasional question about how to notate something or “dad, come listen!”

We’ve been learning this phrase by phrase. Trying to train the girls to hear their note in the chord and hang onto it when the harmony is close like this. Next we’ll work on being in tune. 😂

Looking forward to to performing with the Anderson, IN Symphony on December 14 as pianist/singer with these three amazing singers, Leah Johnson Crane, Erin Twenty Benedict and Heather Lake, under the formidable baton of Rick Sowers. I’ve been slaving away in the basement writing the arrangements so I’m eager to hear them played by real, great players instead of by my computer!

These two gentlemen, Tom Hipskind (drums) and Shawn Sommer (bass) are as good as it gets, in my view. Consummate, complete players with good attitudes, great gear and deep musicianship that allows the music to flow easily. Grateful to them for enabling us to cut 4 very challenging songs very quickly today for an upcoming Ed Nalle project. Oh, and let’s not forget Mathew Prock who engineers everything so perfectly (sorry for over exposing your melon, Shawn)

Hi Paul, Thank you for the fantastic workshop we had last night! And so super we did it by skype!! You are great. Angelo from the Netherlands Vocal Group Just Us
Thank you for adding your event to our calendar! We included you in our "Visit Muskegon Weekend Report" ...presented by an ELF! 🧝‍♂️ See you in Muskegon this weekend!
Hey Paul, I shared "Goin Home" with a choir director friend of mine, and also sent her a link to your website. It looks like there are some other titles on this page than the ones included on the website. Is there one place where she can listen to all your choral arrangements? She's picking music this week for her high school groups.
