The Mobile Food Pantry is back tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct 7) with a new traffic plan designed to keep Mulberry Avenue safe and get food to families faster.

✅ Pre-registered? Come in from the north (Tipton → Bayfield → Mulberry)
✅ Need to register? Start at the Palms Theatre parking lot—volunteers will direct you from there

Over 60% of boxes are already reserved, but walk-ups are still welcome starting at 1:30 pm. Distribution runs until 7:00 pm thanks to extended hours made possible by Weikert Appliance's refrigerator donation.

When the Muscatine Mobile Food Pantry needed cold storage for 500+ families, Weikert Appliance Sales and Service didn't just offer advice—they donated a commercial refrigerator. That's what community looks like.

Big changes coming to the Muscatine Mobile Food Pantry at Muscatine Church of Christ! 🍎🚗

On Tuesday, October 7, the pantry will roll out a new reservation and time-slot system designed to make pickup safer, faster, and less stressful for everyone.

✅ Guests can reserve a box online and choose a 30-minute pickup time between 1:30–7:00 p.m.
✅ Evening pickup makes it easier for working families and single parents to attend.
✅ A new partnership with the Palms Theatre means guests will check in there before being directed to the church lot.
✅ Once inside, volunteers use a four-at-a-time drive-thru system — filling a car every 30 seconds!

For those who can’t register online, boxes will still be available starting at 1:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Unclaimed boxes will be distributed the next day.

In September, the pantry served more than 500 households. These new updates will help volunteers keep Mulberry Avenue clear while continuing to serve our neighbors with care.

The Muscatine Mobile Food Pantry will hold its next distribution on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 4–6 p.m. at the Muscatine Church of Christ, 3601 Mulberry Ave.

This month, families have a new option: you can reserve a box online ahead of time to guarantee one is set aside. Reservations aren’t required — walk-ups are still welcome — but RSVP helps cut down on wait times and ensures no food goes to waste.

I’ve lived in Muscatine my entire life, except for a couple years in Iowa City for school. I love Muscatine. Is it perfect? No. Can it be better? Of course. Will it be better? You better believe it.

If you look at the history of Muscatine, it’s been a community that thrives when it exports products and ideas. Whether it’s lumber, pearl buttons, office furniture, grain products, retread tire processes or any other of the products and services Muscatine has exported from this quiet river town, we as a community, have always found a way to not just survive but thrive.

We firmly believe that it’s time for everyone - people in Muscatine, people looking for somewhere to visit, people looking for somewhere to grow their business or people looking for somewhere to start their business - to DISCOVER MUSCATINE.
