, which just launched a 50-city national tour, played a pop up benefit concert in the Shoals Thursday night 2/9.

The Grammy, CMA and ACM-winning band, which last April signed a worldwide recording agreement with newly-formed 8 Track Entertainment (which will be distributed by Warner Music Group’s ADA) was among numerous artists to perform Thursday at Flobama in downtown Florence to benefit the family of Mike Peden.

Peden, the long time stage crew member for the band Dixie Mafia, who also played Thursday night, died Jan. 9 at the age of 58.

Earlier this week, Shenandoah announced a new cross-country tour “The Revival Tour,” named for the group’s new single, “Revival,” which was also recently released via 8 Track Entertainment/Fame Records. The tour includes a show in Tuscumbia July 13.

Shenandoah formed in Muscle Shoals in 1985 and has charted 26 singles on the Billboard Hot Country charts since, including No. 1 hits “The Church on Cumberland Road,” “Sunday in the South,” “Two Dozen Roses” (played here), “Next to You, Next to Me,” and “If Bubba Can Dance (I Can Too).”

The former American Idol Top 20 finalist, 2021 graduate of Florence High School, and granddaughter of Shoals-based, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter (who co-wrote arguably the biggest crossover hit in history — “I Swear”) played a few songs in downtown Florence tonight, including some off her forthcoming EP.

In the article, Wright used the magazine’s first edition theme of “water” to explore the fleeting nature of hit songwriting. Wright feels one of the artists he’s been working with over the past year here in the Shoals -- -- has the talent and universal appeal so elusive in music making. Wright believes it’s just a matter of time before the artist (whose full name is Kenedi Griffis) makes her mark internationally.

The Shoals area’s newest music hall and bar, , opens this Friday. The venue is billed as an original music venue owned and operated by musicians ( members of the band ) for musicians and music lovers alike.

This is a great chance to support live music in the Shoals. Owning and operating a music venue is a tough business and a great opening weekend could go a long way towards helping these musicians turned businesspeople succeed in their new venture.
