THROWBACK THURSDAY...

On this day in 1954, Elvis Presley, with his backup musicians Bill Black and Scotty Moore, made his first appearance at The Grand Ole Opry.

The audience had such a bad reaction that the Grand Ole Opry’s manager told Elvis that he should return to his job of truck driving. 2 weeks later, the three men appeared at a different venue, the Louisiana Hayride, and made a deal to appear on 52 Saturday night shows, which ended up launching his career.
