What helps me get through a hard winter in Michigan when I can’t detect is YouTube, research, and expanding my knowledge of my machine.

I purchased two invaluable reference books that have become integral to my library. These include:

‘The Minelab Manticore - Tips, Tricks, & Settings' by Clive James Clynick.

‘The Manticore Handbook' by Andy Sabisch.

Both publications are exceptional resources that I continually consult to refine my understanding of the Manticore and fine-tune its settings.

These are my finds from one of the last few hunts of 2025.

The weather took a turn for the better and the temps reached into the 40s. It was time to get out and give it a try. I went to the late 1800s / early 1900s farm dump site. My friend Jeff of Jeff’s Obsessions and I tried a different area. It worked out and we both found a few cool things!

My finds of note!

- What looks like the top part of a medal. It has an eagle and is marked “SOUVENIR”. I have found a similar item online and it was related to GAR memorabilia. Can anyone help ID this? 🧐

- Aluminum thimble. Only my fourth thimble find to date. It cleaned up nice. 👍🏼

- Smith Island oyster tag. My third tag I have found at this site. 🦪

- A small milk glass cream jar with the lid marked “Simplex”. I’m pumped as the lids are normally missing or severely corroded!

And the trash! 🗑️

All found with my Manticore w/M9 coil. Using stock ATG mode.
