Joining us for Opening Weekend? It all begins with Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, and Stravinsky’s Petrouchka.

"This program brings together three extraordinary artistic worlds: Debussy's impressionism and symbolism, Rachmaninoff's rich late Romantic tradition, and Stravinsky's bold, forward-looking modernism.

In many ways, it is a journey from one musical world into another. I can't imagine a better way to begin our season, and I know audiences are going to enjoy this program tremendously.”

As Veridea Development Takes Shape, Wake Tech Plans Campus Near Growing Industries: As Apex and Western Wake continue their rapid growth, plans for a new Wake Tech campus at the massive Veridea development could reshape how local residents access high-paying jobs and connect our community to the biotech, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing employers moving into the area. The project also carries a funding question tied to a bond that Wake County voters will decide this November.

According to The Line, Wake Technical Community College "hopes to put thousands more people on the path to high-paying jobs with its new Conlon Western Wake Campus planned for Apex." The Line reports that the campus is "one of the first major components of Veridea's master plan for a massive mixed-use development," a "$3 billion project" that is "slated to bring new apartments, homes, restaurants, shops, offices, and an industrial park into the area," putting students "just minutes away from Fujifilm Biotechnologies, Amgen, Genentech, and CSL Seqirus facilities in Holly Springs, as well as Körber Pharma, in Apex."

The Line reports that "Construction is slated to start in 2027, with Wake Tech leaders aiming to open in fall 2029," though "the campus faces a couple of challenges, including a need to secure more funding." As The Line notes, "Another, roughly $150 million bond for Wake Tech will be up for a vote this November," and "the bond would increase the property tax rate by 0.9 cents (for fiscal year 2028-29) if approved." Apex Mayor Jacques Gilbert told The Line, "It (Veridea) is really a golden opportunity for our community to thrive," adding that the campus "is really going to set up the region to keep the talent here, and fill some gaps."
