In the last 6 years of podcasting, I’ve learned a lot about this industry and I have accomplished a lot in this industry. I’ve made friends and, unfortunately, I have lost friends throughout this long journey. I’ve had some of the best and worst times of my life along the way. When you’re doing something you love and it no longer brings you joy, that is when you know it is time to let it go. Unfortunately, that is what podcasting has become for me. Over the last few weeks in particular, it has become increasingly clear how true that has become. Having said that, as much as it pains me to say it, Super Retro Throwback Reviews will be coming to an end. For the moment, we are going to take a hiatus for a few months. We are planning to come back for one final set of episodes “The Road to the End”, starting October 30th which will bring us through our 250th and final episode on Christmas Day. After this episode, there will be no restarts, no reboots, and no resurrections. After Christmas Day, I hereby announce my retirement from podcasting.
To all of the friends in the podcasting industry that I have made along the way, I’m going to leave you with these words of wisdom: Don’t let podcasting take over your lives. Make time for your family and your friends outside of the industry. Listen to your body- if you need a break, take a break. None of that ‘no weeks off’ bu****it. Also, if you’re in a position where you aren’t making money- ask yourself if its worth everything you’re missing out on in life. A very good friend told me a long time ago (and still says to this day) “Life before pod” and over the last few weeks, I’ve come to live by these words. I believe it is time to step back and focus on my life, my health, and my family.
I want to thank you all for your support on this journey- it has truly meant the world to me. Please stay tuned in a few months, when we begin our Road to the End.
