the 5th largest blue marlin ever caught on rod and reel. It was caught by my friends and Steve "Stymie" Epstein. This fish was caught on a live bait after they witnessed this great fish chasing a 100 # tuna under the boat. The big fish went down and died and had to be planned up. The 130 # Amilan was up to the task, the angler was not and she was not caught to igfa rules so no record. Either way, a catch of a lifetime. We have an actual replica of this fish in the Melton Tackle Anaheim store #1400

Any angler who has had the chance to take on a Marlin will tell you it is incredible the way they make a reel scream grey hounding away from the boat while putting on their usual aerobatics display.

As the world takes active measures to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, HIBT is making plans to return to Kona for big game tournament fishing.

Tournament dates are set for Saturday, July 31 through Sunday, August 8, 2021. Five days of tournament fishing start Monday, August 2 as teams fish each day from 8am to 4pm through stop fishing on Friday, August 6.
