I've started working on season 2 stories over the past month. In the meantime, I'm going to share short stories from various friends over the years.
From Emily: "My husband and I were outside working on the porch, and there was an object that fell off the shelf. The only way it could have fallen was for it to have been picked up, because the shelf had a lip on it, so it couldn't easily fall over. The item was too sturdy and it had been there for years. Later, we were working on the dog pen and we heard a girl's voice sigh. We have daughters, but none of them were outside with us at the time."
From Robb: "My grandfather was a no-nonsense type of person. He was a war veteran, tough as nails, never got scared. One night, he was taking the trash out and was gone for a long time. When he came back in, he was white as a sheet. He never told us what he saw out there, but it frightened him enough he didn't want to talk about it."
From Melanie: "This was during the time of WWII. My grandmother and her sisters were in their house and the cross over the door fell over so it was hanging upside down. It was a warning of something bad happening."
From Sharon: "My dad used to do a lot of things in the woods when I was younger, and my brother and I would go with him to play around in the creek or help him gather wood for the fireplace. One late afternoon, I had stayed behind and my brother said he heard me calling him from deeper in the woods. Even my dad heard it. They turned around and didn't go back in the woods for a month, and they'd only go during the daytime."
From Jason: "My brother and I were playing video games in my bedroom late one night, and we heard an old woman talking in the hallway. My mother was asleep, and she was the only woman in the house. Even then, it didn't sound like her. My brother called out and asked what the woman wanted. She started crying and the sound went away. It freaked us out. We found out the next morning our great aunt had passed. My mom was close to her."
From Mike: "There was this old shed across the street from where I lived as a kid. I was always curious about it, because it had a lot of old machinery in it, and no one ever used it, though I knew it belonged to the elderly neighbor. One day, I snuck in and saw this really old Model-T Ford. The thing was covered in dust and rat turds and spider webs, but you could see in, just a little, through the glass. When I looked in, I thought I saw a man curled up on the seat. I je**ed back and yelled, but when I looked again, there was no one there. I did see some bullet holes in the side of the door, so it made me wonder. The neighbor was a really shifty guy and we'd heard stories about it. Turns out later, when I looked him up, they were true. He was a con man and thief, and he was suspected of killing his brother. They never found his body."
From Amy: "After my dog passed, I was a wreck. It was hard to sleep at night, because I was so used to feeling her in the bed with me. One night, I had gotten up for some water and to use the bathroom. I heard her nails clicking on the linoleum and instantly went to the back door to let her out. It took me a moment to remember she had passed. I really do think she came to check on me and let me know she was still there."
