With new federal food and nutrition benefits likely being paused starting Saturday and government workers still not getting paychecks due to the shutdown, food pantries in Currituck, Dare and Hyde counties are looking like the primary source of sustenance for many families sooner than later.
Food pantries in Currituck, Dare, and Hyde counties are set to be the primary source of sustenance for many families sooner than later. Already stretched thin on resources as demand has steadily increased in recent years, those pantries are expecting to see an influx of people in need, requiring significant additional support themselves. Below is a list of locations and operating information of pantries and programs identified through various sources in the three Outer Banks counties.
Currituck County

Currituck Family YMCA Mobile Food Pantry, 130 Community Way, 4th Saturdays of each month 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
