Day 17 of 120 wedding tips and tricks.

Trust your vendors. You've hired them for their expertise. Any good vendor wants your day to be perfect as much as you do.

By the day of the wedding, you've likely hand multiple interactions with them, discussed your wants and needs and set expectations. Now it's time for you to focus on your partner and guests and let them do their job :)

If your vendors are giving advice on potential issues or conflicts they see, take that advice with great consideration. While some vendors may prefer to just do things their way, most vendors are trying to help make sure everything goes smoothly and flows well.

Day 16 of 120 wedding tips and tricks.

Book your vendors early! Top-tier vendors often book up a year or more in advance. Once you have your venue, start securing your key vendors like the photographer, DJ caterer, and florist.

Infinity Entertainment on average has 20+ weddings booked before the new year even starts (we usually end up with 35-45 total) and we have to turn away countless clients every year because their date is already taken. Non key dates may stay open longer but most Saturdays book out 8+ months in advance.

Day 15 of 120 wedding tips and tricks.

Don't go into debt. Remember that your wedding is just one day. Starting your marriage in a good financial position is more important than having a lavish celebration.

Social media has made it so easy to find the most extravagant, over the top and amazing ideas for your wedding and put them right at your fingertips. While making your dream wedding come to life is important, putting yourself into a financial bind is definitely not a position you want to be in.

Truly think about what is important and focus your budget on those things. (Studies show many couples regret not spending more on things like a good photo and video team or their DJ/entertainment and regret overspending on things like floral that is gone in a week or $50+ plates of food for guests when something simple like a taco bar is a great option).

Bottom line, set feasible budget that you won't be paying off for years to come and make the most amazing day within those limits come to life. :)

Day 14 of 120 wedding tips and tricks.

Get a second opinion. For big decisions, it’s always a good idea to get a second opinion from a trusted friend or family member.

Making your wedding your own is important but having input from an outside perspective is always a good idea on major decisions and can help when you may be on the fence about certain things.

Don't be afraid to ask your vendors for their input as well! We have been a part of dozens if not hundreds of weddings so we have likely seen or heard most thoughts and ideas.

Day 13 of 120 wedding tips and tricks.

Create a "day-of" emergency kit. Pack a small bag with items like safety pins, a sewing kit, stain remover, pain relievers, and band-aids. This will be a lifesaver for small emergencies.

Even better is to have a couple on hand. Create one kit for the bride and bridesmaids, one for the groom and groomsmen, an emergency decorations kit with spares for table settings and decorations (I can't count how many times wind has knocked over a decoration and broken a vase etc).

It's also a wonderful and thoughtful idea to have an emergency kit for guests with things like breath mints, tissues, stain pens etc for those last minute things we all forget sometimes.

Day 12 of 120 wedding tips and tricks.

Budget for a contingency fund. Plan to set aside at least 5-10% of your total budget for unexpected costs or last-minute additions that will inevitably pop up.

Just like any major expense in life (travel, home repairs, vehicle maintenance etc) there is almost always something unexpected that will pop up (or something you'll see last minute on FB, Tok Tok, Instagram etc that you just have to have for your big day!).

Having a contingency fund will help make those unexpected expenses easier to overcome. And the best part is if you end up not ending to use it, you then have a nice bit of change to put towards upgrading your honeymoon, as a down payment on a house or to invest for the future.

Day 11 of 120 Wedding Tips & Tricks.

Have a rainy day plan...... Especially in Idaho. No matter the season, always have a backup plan for bad weather, especially if your ceremony or reception is outdoors.

Here in Idaho, we all know we can have all 4 seasons in one day. Having a backup plan, no matter how far fetched it may seem will help make sure your day goes off without a hitch.

Even if you are ok with a little drizzle (rainy weddings can provide some unique photo opportunities ;) , many of your vendors likely won't be, as much of their equipment can be damaged by even just a little rain. If you decide to keep your plans outside with a possibility of rain, make sure you have a covered area for your DJ, catering and for your photographer to hide until the rain stops.

- Consider an off season or week day wedding.
If your schedule is flexible, getting married on a Friday, Sunday, or during the off season can save you a significant amount of money on the venue or other vendors.

Day 9 of 120 wedding tips and tricks.

Ask for vendor recommendations. Your venue, DJ, photographer or planner will likely have a list of preferred vendors who they have worked with before. This can save you a lot of time and give you peace of mind.

Vendors who have worked together usually know each other's style and flow and help keep things moving along smoothly more naturally. Plus as a bonus for your vendors, just like you at your job, having a friend helps make the day smoother and overall more enjoyable. :)

Day 8 of 120 wedding tips and tricks

Prioritize vendors who are responsive. From the first contact, a vendor who answers your emails and calls promptly is a good sign that they are professional and will be easy to work with throughout the process.

In addition, having vendors who respond quickly will help make your planning smoother and more efficient. You may need questions answered by a vendor before you can finalize a decision or make arrangements for a piece of your big day. If you are waiting weeks on a vendor to respond, that delays planning and could lead to complications.

Don't be afraid to ask your potential vendors their preference on communication and expected turn around times to respond to urgent messages.

With today's technology, barring exigent circumstances, even on a busy weekend where a vendor may have multiple weddings, there shouldn't be any reason that urgent messages cannot be responded to within 24 hours and 2-3 business days for any other communication.

Day 7 of 120 wedding tips and tricks

Ask your vendors about hidden fees. While there should never be any truly "hidden" fees you aren't made aware of, many vendors will have extra fees over their base services depending on the totality of your wedding and what they are providing.

When you’re getting quotes, ask about extra costs like service charges, corkage fees, travel or accommodation fees, setup and breakdown fees etc. Better yet, ask if they have a pricing guide that lists all of the possible fees and add ons, that way you can review them and know exactly what you are getting and why this cost is what it is.

A quality vendor should be asking enough questions about your needs to accurately include everything in the total cost of their quote however, it's always better to be sure as opposed to having unexpected costs sprung on you later.

Day 6 of 120 wedding tips and tricks

Read vendor contracts carefully (if a vendor doesn't have some sort of contract to start with, RUN!!!). Don't just skim the documents. Pay close attention to clauses about payment schedules, cancellation policies, and what's included in the package.

A well made vendor contract should be easy to understand but thorough. 2-3 sentences is usually not enough to detail everything. What happens in the case they cannot make it to the wedding. Who is responsible if equipment is damaged but a guest. What happens if the venue loses power. How are disagreements on services provided/payments handled?

While reading a detailed contract can feel a bit unnecessary and overwhelming, it's the only way to ensure both you and the vendor are protected.

We've all seen the stories posted about "X vendor cancelled on me last minute" or " I never got my photos" or "I've been ghosted and can't get my deposit back". While a detailed contract can't stop a bad vendor from being bad and it won't necessarily fix the hassle and heartache of dealing with these situations, it at least gives you some recourse if needed if the vendor doesn't fulfill their duties.
