Revisions

“A lot of people from my generation of music are so focused on playing things correctly or to perfection that they’re stuck in that safe place.” – Dave Grohl. While we focus on so many elements which ensure we are putting the song first, if you're not careful, there is a trap where human-nature takes over and a person can find fault in anything if it’s focused on too much. This is why we talk so much about obtaining and keeping perspective in the studio. After you have listened to the mix, you are asked to provide your feedback to our portal and we will get to work on making the revisions you have requested. Ideally, we would like to provide an initial mix and after you have had a chance to review it, you would approve it. Although we have a tight quality control process, there are items that you will want revised - and that is okay! Our internal goal is that we are able to obtain your approval by the 2nd revision. This is our goal but be assured that your satisfaction is our guarantee. Communication is key and being comfortable knowing you are in a safe space to create is very important to us. Mixing

"Where words fail, music speaks". Bringing the elements of your song together for the best listener experience starts with a well written song. Keeping the intention and integrity of your track in-tact is one of the most critical objectives at Mill Springs Studio. The song comes first. At this point, we have worked together, collaboratively, to do the heavy-lifting from fine-tuning the arrangement, lyrics, tempo, key, etc. to capturing captivating performances during the tracking as well as making the necessary edits as needed to realize your vision. Now it is time to balance the tracks using volume, panning, EQ & compression to evoke emotion from the listener. The initial mix is sent to you from our portal and you are asked to review and provide any feedback you may have. Pro Tip: Listen where you consume music the most (you know that environment best) but also listen on different systems to get alternative perspectives. Communication is key and being comfortable knowing you are in a safe space to create is very important to us. If it's not right on tracking day, we are compromising the quality of your project. Back at it again in Mill Springs Studio. We're getting sooooo close to wrapping up this new album, "The Soundtrack for Healing". It's really going to be something special!! Plus, not only has Danny Micoff become a great friend, but I can't recommend the comfort & professionalism of his award winning studio enough!

Editing

It has been said that "perfection is a roadblock to progress". We agree. You are creating art which is meant to be a reflection of you and with that comes some imperfection - we all have that and it is what makes us unique. With that, editing can make the difference for your song to either resonate emotionally with your fans or take them out of the experience all together. At Mill Springs Studio, once the tracks have been recorded, we will take care to work with the instrumentation to ensure industry quality while keeping the "groove" intact. Although we all do our best on tracking day, performances which can be improved are carefully edited. This can range from fade development & vocal-comping and/or tuning to general instrument timing & solving phase or alignment anomalies, etc. to ensure your best release to date. Communication is key and being comfortable knowing you are in a safe space to create is very important to us. If it's not right on tracking day, we are compromising the quality of your project.
