🎉 We’re thrilled to announce that five of our productions have been recognized at the 2024 Hometown Media Awards! These national honors celebrate the best in community media, and we’re proud to see Nantucket stories shining on that stage.

🏆 2024 NCTV Year in Review
Won in the category: Program Promo – Access Center Professional
The editor of this piece, Sophia Reis, started learning editing years ago as a child by taking classes at NCTV. Over time, she honed her skills and joined NCTV as a staff member. Now she is winning awards for NCTV. Congratulations!

🏆 NCTV’s Election 2024 Coverage
Won in the category: Democracy in Action – Access Center Professional
This project was a collaboration amongst the Town of Nantucket, the Nantucket High School (NHS), the Nantucket Current, and NCTV. We want to congratulate JohnCarl McGrady (NHS class of 2021) who designed an exit poll focused exclusively on Nantucket voters. It served as the foundation of the discussions in this coverage, thanks to the analysis by Jason Graziadei (Editor in Chief of the Current), Mary Wawro (Treasurer of Nantucket Democratic Town Committee), & Toby Brown (Chair of Nantucket Republican Town Committee). Last, but not least, the exit poll would not have been possible without the tireless work of Nancy Christie and her Honors Government class at NHS. They made the exit poll scientifically accurate by interviewing over 350 Nantucket voters!

🏆 Nantucket Life: Nantucket Christmas Stroll
Won in the category: Magazine Shows – Access Center Professional
This special episode of Nantucket Life explored the magic of Nantucket Christmas Stroll because of a partnership between Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce and Nantucket Community Television.

🏆 Lost in Nevers Land
Won in the category: Documentary – Access Center Professional
Director Penny Dey brought this story to Nantucket Community Television and NCTV loved creating this documentary under her leadership. It premiered at the 2024 Nantucket Film Festival and won a Best of the Fest award.

🏆 Comedy Festival 2023
Won in the category: Entertainment & Arts Single Episode – Independent Producer
This video was filmed at the Nantucket Comedy Festival and was directed by NCTV board president Dan Driscoll.

Thank you to every collaborator, storyteller, and supporter who makes this possible.

📢 Nantucket Community’s Stories Are at Stake!
NCTV has been a lifeline for our island, bringing us local government news, creative storytelling, and programs that empower both young minds and our elders. But without Bill S.41/H.91, this essential resource is at risk.

💔 Without updated funding, we could lose:
• Key programs for youth and seniors
• Access to civic engagement and public information
• A platform for local voices and creativity

To help, it will take less than 3 minutes! Details here: https://www.nantucketcommunitytelevision.org/news/modernize-community-media-fundings-2025

This 4th of July, we celebrate the freedom to speak, to create, and to reclaim our voices.
Every powerful film begins with a voice brave enough to speak. This mentorship is for writers ready to shape raw truth into story—to take a private idea and give it form, structure, and cinematic life.

Led by the Director of Programming at NCTV, this experience provides emerging storytellers with a rare blend of creative support and real-world opportunities. Select scripts may even be brought to life as short films and enter into film festivals like NEW Moon Fest—an event that, this year, became a declaration.

Through this mentorship, we extend the mission of Nantucket Community Television: to empower voices of all ages.

This is your moment. Your story. Your voice.
📜 Apply now and let your story be heard. https://www.newmoonfest.org/about-4

NOTE FROM THE TOWN OF NANTUCKET: Emergency Water Ban — June 21, 2025. Due to a mechanical failure of the Town’s main water pump, water storage levels across the island are critically low.

As a result, the Nantucket Water Department has issued an emergency ban on all non-essential outdoor water use, effective immediately.
This ban applies to properties connected to the municipal water system.
Private wells are not included, but residents are strongly encouraged to conserve water.

Prohibited activities include lawn irrigation, car washing, filling pools or hot tubs, and outdoor showers, except for health or safety needs.
Indoor water use is allowed, but please conserve wherever possible.
The Water Department is working to restore capacity and will provide updates as the situation evolves.
