repost - EARLY MORNING HOUSE FIRE IN CRESTLINE

Crestline—San Bernardino County Fire units from the mountain division responded early Monday morning to a house fire in the hillside above Lake Gregory.

The first crews arrived just after 2 a.m., reporting a heavy amount of fire coming from the street level of the house, with fire spreading in the other floors below. This setup of homes built into the steep mountainside is common for the area.

The lone occupant, an adult female, had already escaped safely. A second resident was not home at the time.

Crews assumed an exterior defensive strategy, deploying hose streams to multiple sides of the home, prioritizing knockdown of the fire and preventing exposure to the neighboring house before entering the structure. A hazard alert was broadcast on the fire ground for a partial collapse to a cantilevered deck at the rear of the structure.

Despite the large volume of fire, firefighters saved neighboring homes from exposure, and there was no threat to the forest vegetation.

Crews achieved knockdown on the fire just before 4 a.m., with overhaul operations continuing for another 1-2 hours.

No firefighter injuries were reported. The Red Cross was contacted to assist with sheltering the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation by County Fire’s office of the fire marshal.

County Fire thanks and for their assistance.

“We’re going defensive.” 🚒🔥 • Fresno Fire responded to a massive blaze at a vacant restaurant on the Blackstone corridor overnight. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames through the roof and shifted to an exterior attack. As the roof collapsed, firefighters focused on structure protection, successfully shielding the nearby GoodGuys tire shop. The building of origin is a total loss. 33 firefighters responded, and the cause is under investigation.

repost - Just before 9:45 AM this morning, firefighters received reports of a commercial structure fire at 1528 Tulare St. in Downtown Fresno. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke showing from all sides of a vacant two-story commercial building.

Firefighters quickly located one individual who had jumped from the second floor to escape the fire. The person suffered a broken leg and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The building, which has experienced multiple fires in the past, rapidly became unstable. Due to significant structural integrity concerns and fast-growing fire conditions, firefighters were forced to withdraw and transition to a defensive fire attack. Portions of the structure later collapsed and nearby powerlines were threatened.

As a precaution, PG&E shut down electricity to several surrounding buildings and businesses. They are currently working to restore service.

The building is considered a total loss. Firefighters are expected to remain on scene for several more hours. Please avoid the area.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
