🎉 Attention Florida homeowners and families! Starting August 1, 2025, essential hurricane and emergency preparedness items are permanently sales‑tax exempt—no more limited tax‑holiday windows!

Thanks to House Bill 7031 signed on June 30, 2025, Florida has replaced the former short-lived “disaster preparedness” tax holiday with a year-round exemption for these vital supplies  :
• Batteries: AA, AAA, C, D, 6‑volt, 9‑volt
• Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms
• Fire extinguishers
• Portable generators (10,000 running watts or less)
• Portable gas or diesel fuel cans (≤ 5 gallons)
• Waterproof tarps / flexible sheeting (≤ 1,000 sq ft)
• Ground anchor systems & tie-down kits
• Life jackets and bicycle helmets (all sizes)
• Sunscreen (primarily for UV protection)
• Insect repellent 

❗ Florida lawmakers did not include a separate “hurricane tax holiday” in this year’s budget—because it’s now permanent, no expiration date.
