Welcome to the official page of D. William Graves, where horror meets the unknown. I write cosmic horror, psychological terror, and unsettling stories that creep under your skin and stay with you long

after the final page. My latest project, Seams of the Infinite, blends baseball and eldritch horror, unraveling reality one pitch at a time. Inspired by real history, folklore, and existential dread, my stories explore the fragile seams of our world—and what lurks beyond them. Previously, I ran Slasher Sports Cinema, dissecting horror films with the same depth I bring to my writing. Now, this page is dedicated to my books, horror insights, and dark storytelling. Most horror asks, ā€œWhat’s out there?ā€

Cosmic horror asks something worse:

What if something is out there…
and it’s already aware of us?

Not watching us nor hunting us.

Just… aware.

And that awareness doesn’t need a reason.

That's what my book 'Seams of the Infinite' splices into my favorite pastime while weaving in a real event that happened in 1970. I hope you'll read it.

The very first book that I wrote was Tico Goes to School. I didn't know whether I wanted to write this in multiple languages, at least the ones that I know, but I knew that I couldn't use my real name. Knowing that I would lean more into dark fiction, I didn't want children asking for the latest D. William Graves book only for parents to look up the name and find scary stories. Flaco has always been my nickname among my spanish-speaking friends, and Sol means "sun". And when I think of the sun, I think of being outside, maybe on a beach, maybe playing with friends, and that makes me happy. Flaco Sol seemed like a good name.

Leave a comment if you'd like the link to the English or Spanish versions of Tico's first tale. I wrote this one for kids between the ages of four and seven, or really just any child starting something new.

Seams of the Infinite began with a question I couldn’t shake: what if Dock Ellis’s legendary 1970 no-hitter wasn’t just a game… but a moment where reality itself started to fray?

The story draws creatively from the mood of Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone and the social bite of John Carpenter’s They Live. I couldn’t recreate Roddy Piper and Keith David ’s legendary alley fight, but I was interested in the same idea—that sometimes the truth about the world is hiding just beneath the surface.

As a white writer telling a story rooted in the experiences of Black/minority ballplayers like Dock Ellis, Roberto Clemente, and Willie Stargell, I knew there was a real risk of speaking over voices that deserved to be heard directly. That mattered to me. So I reached out to the Dock Ellis Foundation before moving forward. Their encouragement meant more than I can properly put into words, and their support continues.

What I ultimately tried to write was a fictional lens on that night in 1970—one where the pressures Black players faced on the field and in America itself begin to intersect with something older, stranger, and cosmic. A baseball game becomes a kind of fault line. The strike zone bends. History presses in. And something unseen starts keeping score.

Thank you in advance to anyone who decides to read the story and support the project.

šŸŽ¬ On This Day in Horror History: Diary of a Madman (1963) Released!

Just watched this again, and Vincent Price proves once more why he’s the king of Gothic horror. A body-hopping evil spirit manipulates its victims into murder, and Price’s descent into madness is phenomenal.

šŸŒ€ Why You Should Watch It:
šŸ”„ A psychological horror twist on possession.
šŸ‘ļø An evil spirit that jumps from body to body.
šŸ“– Based on Guy de Maupassant’s eerie short story The Horla.
šŸŒ• Pure slow-burn horror with an unsettling, gothic feel.

It’s creepy, it’s underrated, and it’s perfect if you love horror that plays with paranoia and unseen terror.

šŸ“ŗ Watch it if you enjoy: The Haunting, Fallen, Repulsion, The Innocents.

In 1970, Dock Ellis stepped onto the mound high on LSD—and threw a no-hitter. A wild baseball legend. But what if that game wasn’t just baseball?
What if, pitch by pitch, he was unraveling reality itself?
šŸ‘ļø Seams of the Infinite is my upcoming cosmic horror novella.
Follow for horror, mystery, and stories that blur the line between real and unreal.
