Since Funhouse Fridays is on Thanksgiving break, we thought we'd post something special in honor of the late, great Mel Tillis that passed away Sunday. Ernie had the distinct pleasure of working with Mel, not only as a band member of Mel's legendary group "The Statesiders," but also later running Mel's publishing company. Ernie and Mel remained good friends until the end. Ernie was also lucky enough to have Mel record some of his songs. One of which is very rare to find online, but was on the "New Patches" album. So we thought we'd post it here for everyone to enjoy! It's called "Almost Like You Never Went Away " and was written by Ernie and Dave Lindsey.

Ernie Rowell is a music industry veteran with over 30 years experience in the Nashville music scene. He is a successful singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and publisher.

Ernie has served as bass player and front man for country greats George Jones, Ray Price, and Mel Tillis.

His songwriting credits include cuts by Kenny Rogers, George Jones, Mel Tillis, Johnny Paycheck, Roy Clark, Ricky Van Shelton, and Gene Watson.

As a singer, his Christian Country recordings have topped the charts numerous times.

He worked for several years running Mel Tillis' extremely successful Publishing company and now owns his own music publishing company, Blue Creek Music.

His passion is working with independent artists. Ernie has produced an amazing catalog of Independent Artists from all over the US and around the world.

Ernie brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to Funhouse Studios. Ernie is available for consultations, producing your projects, helping chart your songs, helping you find songs to record for your project, and anything else you might need to complete your recording.
