Patrick Custer Making noise in media to educate, inspire and empower you love yourself!

Fixing every mistake you ever made would erase the person you became. Every regret taught you something. Every wrong turn routed you here. The mistakes you are most ashamed of are often the ones that built your spine.

What are your thoughts?

Half of you just felt relief reading that. The other half are still sitting with it. Both are welcome here.

The room is what made the night. The importance here and now in the South: GLAAD brought Pride and Progress to Nashville because the need here is sharpest. Tennessee has passed more laws restricting LGBTQ+ rights than any state in the country since 2015. Nationally, more than 1 in 3 LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered su***de in the past year, and among transgender and nonbinary youth in Tennessee that number is 58%. The hopeful part is just as proven. One accepting adult in a young person’s life makes them 40% less likely to attempt su***de, and people who simply see LGBTQ+ lives reflected in media are measurably more likely to support equality. Visibility is not vanity. It keeps people alive.

The Nashville family that shows up for everything. The people who keep doing this work whether anyone is watching or not.

I love you. Happy Pride. Thank you GLAAD.

Day 1 of Pride. The hair is rainbow. The vest is sequined. The face paint is on. The joy is on
schedule.
After many years of being out, I've learned that joy itself is a form of resistance, especially in a
state where representation isn't always guaranteed. The wig is the uniform. The work continues
all 30 days. And the 335 after.
Happy Pride.

Country music artist Ty Herndon shares one of the most devastating moments from his memoir tour. “A country-boy, redneck dad” approached Ty after a performance and told him about the transgender daughter he had at 16. The dad said “I hated my ‘son’ because of how I was raised.” He drove the son 200 miles away and dropped her off. Shortly after, the she was dead.

Ty tearfully shares with the audience: "Don't do that to your kids."

The father is making his mission to share his regret so other parents would not have to live it.
