We had the honor of capturing a powerful moment at the National Museum of African American Music as unveiled her personal artifacts, cementing her place in history as the first Black female puppeteer on Sesame Street.

Megan’s artistry goes beyond the puppets that have inspired generations. She continues to expand her creative legacy with her newly released album Cinderella Sweep, a project that beautifully blends storytelling, music, and imagination.

Her journey reminds us that representation matters, that creativity has no limits, and that breaking barriers opens doors for countless others to follow.

We are grateful to have witnessed and documented this chapter of Megan’s story and can’t wait to see the impact her voice, vision, and music will continue to make.

The post-screening conversation was just as impactful, featuring a distinguished panel facilitated by Rev. Davie Tucker Jr., Pastor of Beech Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a leading advocate for community empowerment. He was joined by Dr. Sheila Peters, Professor of Psychology at Fisk University and a licensed clinical psychologist with decades of experience addressing trauma and resilience in Black communities, and Dr. Learotha Williams, Associate Professor of African American and Public History at Tennessee State University and lead scholar of the North Nashville Heritage Project.

Fort Negley stands as a powerful reminder of resilience and freedom—built largely by the hands of enslaved and free Black people and later playing a key role in the Union’s victory during the Civil War. This Juneteenth, we were honored to capture the celebration at this historic site with , a day filled with reflection, unity, and joy.
