Let's give a hearty hand to our two latest SEA members to earn their Certified Cooperative Communicator designation through NRECA.

Oklahoma Living Field Editor Lance Shaw and Colorado Country Life Editor Kylee Coleman spent much of 2026 completing online instruction, exams and two weeks of intensive classes in Arlington, Virginia. Their coursework covered crisis communications, public speaking, branding, media relations and more—culminating in an implementation-ready communications plan for their organizations.

As those who have earned this certification know, the rigorous CCC program equips electric co-op communicators with the strategic skills, industry insights and connections needed to strengthen and advance the cooperative network.

Way to go, Lance and Kylee! Be sure to ask them about their capstone projects.

Congratulations to our friend Perry Stambaugh, the latest recipient of the SEA Lifetime Achievement Award! Perry was the longtime editor of PennLines and RE Magazine and one of the founders of what is now American Mainstreet Publications (AMP). and now serves ably in the Pennsylvania State Legislature. Perry received his award at the Wi***es Awards Dinner Wednesday night. Earlier in the week, Mike Buda, editor emeritus of Michigan Country Lines, was also named a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Congrats to both!

Thanks to Stephen M. Brame, president and CEO of Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association (PREA) and Allegheny Electric Cooperative, for welcoming us to Pittsburgh and reminding us of the Pennsylvanians who played prominent roles in the state and nation's history. Not to mention President Franklin Roosevelt, the champion of rural electrification.
