🎞The “film look” without shooting actual film 🎞

I’ve been testing .film, a film emulation plugin, and the results are blowing my mind 🤯

This is a full transformation from: Log → Rec.709 → Final Grade using Dehancer and the difference is night and day. The colors feel rich, the contrast has that natural filmic roll-off, and the grain looks authentic—not like some artificial noise slapped on top.

I have a review video coming out later this week sharing my thoughts and opinions on this plugin and whether or not it’s worth getting.

❓Would you use this for your next project?

Yep, I’m ready to shoot another short film. when’s the call sheet go out?

Here’s a few BTS from Slideshow, a short film writer and directed by my good friend Jamison. I have other projects in the works but nothing quite scratches the itch to shoot like a short film does!

Shout out to for the awesome BTS photos!

👊🏽We shot this for what seems like an eternity ago. Old as it may be, visually it’s still some of our favorite work. The movement and energy in the final film helped to drive Blaike’s message. As a cinematographer, that’s ultimately our goal. To ensure the visuals match the mood, message and needs of our client.
🎥Everything we do plays a role in making that happen and it stretches far beyond having an expensive camera or the “best” glass. How you move the camera, why it’s moving in a particular way, the lens you choose, lighting, contrast ratios, everything makes the audience feel something while watching a film.
🎞️I challenge you to not only think about how to shoot something to make it “look cool” (there’s nothing wrong with that btw) but the WHY behind the choices you make. Once you begin adding in your why, your films will never be the same in the best way possible.
