Nashville, TN – October 17, 2025 – Curb | Word Music Publishing is thrilled to announce the signing of an exclusive music publishing agreement with Daniel Bashta ( ), the award-winning songwriter and artist best known for penning the chart-topping anthem “God’s Not Dead (Like a Lion),” which became a global phenomenon when popularized by Newsboys.
A missionary kid raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Bashta has built a remarkable career immersed in ministry and music, with his songs recorded by powerhouse acts like Newsboys, Third Day, David Crowder, Passion Band, and Jesus Culture. His accolades include a 2025 Billboard Gospel #1 for Chandler Moore’s “Lead Me On”, 2024 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and Dove Award for “God Problems,” with Maverick City Music, and his own album “For Every Curse” ranking No. 2 on Worship Leader’s Top 5 list.
Bashta’s influence extends deeply into prominent worship movements, including his publishing deal with Bethel Music in 2017. These partnerships have solidified his role as a visionary in contemporary Christian music, blending raw passion with themes of revival and hope.
“Daniel has been a dear friend to our company for over a decade, even as he partnered with several other music publishers whom we highly respect,” said Jonathan Mason for Curb | Word Music Publishing. “We are profoundly grateful that it is now our turn to carry the torch and work alongside such a gifted songwriter.”
At Curb | Word, we view Daniel as more than a songwriter—he is an integral part of our music publishing family. As we continue to build and develop a roster that collaborates seamlessly across all genres internationally, we see him as a key element to move onward and upward as a healthy and connected group of writers.
