We're so excited to share from festivities in Eau Claire, Wisconsin this weekend that we're slipping you a sneak peak of our upcoming review from this weekend's Eaux Claires music and arts festival. SINE's full review will be available at sinemediaonline.com soon! Until then, take a super-quick look back with us:
The festival opened in headlining fashion, as Justin Vernon, Aaron Dessner and company performed something of an in-progress work, billed as "People's Mixtape, Vol. 1." It was a super-sonic start to their third year producing Eaux Claires. Dessner, capturing the spirit of the festival, prefaced the compilation: "It's not done, but that's kind of the point." Truly characteristic of the weekend, Dessner and Vernon set a precedent for all of the spontaneous performances and collaborations that would happen over an all-too-short 48 hours.
Later, we stopped by to enjoy Bon Iver, in their presentation of "John Prine and The American Songbook." A *complete* turnaround from their 2016 premiere of "22, A Million," this set featured at least a dozen of the other artists at the festival, whether they were billed on the lineup or not. Jenny Lewis, Phil Cook, Mountain Man, and of course, John Prine. The massive collab was a glorious throwback of the instantly-legendary "SuperJam" Grateful Dead tribute from Eaux Claires 2016's, "Day of the Dead."
Then, with storms brewing for a slice of the weekend's schedule, Chance The Rapper took charge of the Flambeaux stage for what could arguably have been the greatest performance of Eaux Claires III.
On Saturday, we made a point to get front row to Feist, who flawlessly performed from her 10/10, rock-righteous album released earlier this year: "Pleasure." The list of magic and mayhem from this weekend really doesn't stop at any artist, anywhere.
We have so much more to share from TROIX: Eaux Claires III, including artist interviews, more photos, and a comprehensive review coming this week, so hang tight for more from Team SINE's from third annual .
