On this date 10 years ago, Taylor Swift joined The Civil Wars on stage for their debut headline show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville for the one and only live performance of “Safe and Sound”, the song they co-wrote and recorded with T Bone Burnett for The Hunger Games film + soundtrack. The song would go on to win a GRAMMYs Award in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category.

Barton Hollow, the debut album by The Civil Wars was released on this day 10 years ago, February 1st, 2011 independently via Sensibility Music. The album has sold over 1 million copies to date (in the US alone), and won two Grammy Awards in 2012 for Best Folk Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Produced by Charlie Peacock.
