Nearly 8,000 children are in foster care across the state, many of them waiting for permanent homes.

The Dave Thomas Foundation is expanding its Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program by adding 12 new adoption recruiters to help older kids, sibling groups, and children with disabilities find loving families.

The program is proven to be three times more effective than traditional methods.

🚨 MASTERS INVITATION SHAKE-UP 🚨
The Masters is changing how players qualify.

🏌️‍♂️ Instead of inviting PGA Tour fall winners, Augusta National will now send invitations to winners of six major national opens worldwide:
🇪🇸 Spanish Open
🇯🇵 Japan Open
🇭🇰 Hong Kong Open
🇦🇺 Australian Open
🇿🇦 South African Open
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scottish Open

Organizers say this move highlights the global nature of golf. However, it may increase competition given last year, four of the seven fall winners were outside the top 100 in the world ranking.

The belonging Fund, created after the ICE crackdown to support immigrant families is expanding how its donations can be used.

On the organization’s website it now says they plan to provide legal support through nonprofits. This on top of other specialized healthcare (mental, and medical).

Republican Congressman Andy Ogles has pushed back in the past, calling for an audit and raising concerns that using the funds this way could violate federal and state laws, especially if those funds are used to help undocumented immigrants.

The Community Foundation says the change responds to growing needs and stresses that all money comes from private donations, never taxpayer dollars.

Do you support the efforts to provide legal services to immigrants?

🚨 SAFETY CONCERNS IN GERMANTOWN 🚨
Two weekends ago, a young woman on a bike was seriously injured at the same crosswalk where Dot Dobbins was killed earlier this year.

City leaders say Nashville is still moving too slowly on pedestrian safety upgrades, even though NDOT just added solar-powered lights and speed bumps.

Councilmember Jacob Kupin told FOX 17 a pedestrian beacon won’t be installed until the end of the year, but there’s no clear explanation for the delay.

City leaders are renewing calls for urgent pedestrian safety upgrades after another crash in Germantown, at the same crosswalk where Dot Dobbins was killed.

Another crash in Germantown…⚠️

A 22-year-old woman was hit while riding her bike at the same crosswalk where Dot Dobbins was killed just months ago.

Councilmember Jacob Kupin calls the situation “heartbreaking and horrifying” and says safety upgrades are underway, but they weren’t fast enough to prevent this latest crash.

Billy Dunlop Park in Clarksville is now closed until further notice after a second child drowned in the Red River within just a few months.

City leaders say the river’s conditions can change quickly and turn dangerous, despite warning signs posted throughout the park. Clarksville Fire & Rescue tells WZTV FOX 17 News, Nashville they don’t see this as a “trend” but admit water emergencies happen more often in summer.
