Survivors say faster testing brings closure, helps build trust, and can get repeat offenders off the streets sooner.

MNPD expects to process all new kits locally next year, ending future backlogs and shortening turnaround times.

Critics worry neighborhoods could face added strain on roads, schools and services.

Greater Nashville Realtors say more flexible zoning is one key step toward easing price pressure:

“We can’t improve affordability without increasing supply,” said Scott Troxell with Greater Nashville Realtors.

Two additional housing measures are still moving through council and will return for debate in January.
