A very special edition of the Hipbilly Jamboree this Sunday as I pay tribute to my good friend and former partner in Hipbilly hijinks, the late Kels Koch, who passed away this last week at the all-too-young age of 58. Kels was my radio partner on both WRVU and WXNA in Nashville from 2000 through the year 2018, when he made the decision to move back to his home state of Montana. Since then, Kels continued his radio adventures with "Shake Appeal" on KGLT-FM in Bozeman, Montana as well as founding one of the Montana’s best record stores, The Wax Museum. Earlier this month, Kels suffered a sudden heart attack which landed him in the hospital for a couple of days, he seemed to be doing better and returned to his beloved shop only to be struck down by a second, fatal attack on Tuesday.
I’ll write more about Kels in the future, but for right now, I’ll just let two knuckleheads playing old hillbilly records and explaining how Lux Interior ended up on this Earth speak for him. I loved you, buddy, there will never be another one like ya.
