Rhori and Carrie were away from the desk today, so Levi and I got called up from the reserves.

I always enjoy filling in on the anchor desk with my girl, Meteorologist Katie Melvin—and it was a first with my friend, Levi Ismail

My heart is with the people in the Bucksnort area of Hickman County, especially those who work at the Accurate Energetic plant.

This afternoon, I attended the Nashville Public Education Foundation annual Public Schools Hall of Fame 2025 luncheon.

The event recognized leaders and community partners who are making a difference for Metro Schools students.

Last year, I was introduced to the Foundation’s work while hosting an OpenLine conversation on NewsChannel 5+, and today I saw that impact celebrated firsthand.

Congratulations to all the honorees!

My favorite show is Dateline NBC so of course, when I heard that the team was coming to Nashville I got a ticket.
I’m so glad I made it tonight. I’m a true crime ju**ie and this show is one reason why a lot my stories gravitate around crime victims and their families.

Often, it’s the news reporter who gets the recognition and praise — but I’ll be the first to say we are nothing without the photojournalists who help us get on TV, shoot our stories, and bring them to life through editing.

That’s why I’m so happy that my coworker and friend, NewsChannel 5 Nashville photojournalist Jimmy Farmer, was inducted into the Cheatham County Arts & Entertainment Hall of Fame tonight for his decades of service to Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky through his lens.

Congratulations, Jimmy — you deserve it! 🎉📸

I got to spend the afternoon visiting my friend and farmer George McDonald in Smith County. He added pumpkins to his list of crops.
I’m from central Illinois so I just love being on the farm.
