The recently opened Four Seasons Hotel Nashville, a five-star luxury property, is upping the wellness ante in Music City with its stunning new spa.

The Spa at Four Seasons may be in the heart of Downtown Nashville, but its tranquil atmosphere and soothing vibes make it feel much further away from the action that its seventh-floor location suggests. With six massage treatment rooms, a couple’s suite, two dedicated facial massage rooms, and a full-service salon with manicure and pedicure stations, as well as hairstylist services, it’s a dreamy oasis in the heart of the city.

The 30th anniversary of A Tennessee Waltz will be held Saturday, September 30, at the historic Tennessee State Capitol.

Patrons from all across the state come to this event to celebrate our heritage and to support the Tennessee State Museum and its programs. It is one of the most beautiful event settings of the year, taking place in the marbled halls of the Capitol building and the expansive balconies overlooking Nashville’s exquisite vistas. This year the iconic and beloved entertainer Ray Stevens will be the special guest performer at the event.

Nashville native Cheryl McKissack is one of the co-chairs for A Tennessee Waltz and we asked her about her involvement in the prestigious event.

There was a time not long ago when The Turnpike Troubadours thought they were done.

With a decade-long run behind them, the six-piece band of road-warrior brothers had risen to become perhaps the most successful “Red Dirt” group in history, with legions of fans all over the world. But like the Icarus of indie country, maybe they flew too high.

They had released four studio albums that became instant classics, fusing pure country sonics with the high-voltage energy of born entertainers (and the mischievous wit of a barroom poet). They had amassed over one billion streams and were booking arenas and amphitheaters, sharing billing with the biggest mainstream stars and remaining proudly independent, still planted in Oklahoma. And then, in 2019, it all stopped.

Burned out and battling a tabloid frenzy, the band canceled shows at the last minute and eventually announced an abrupt hiatus, with reports indicating frontman Evan Felker had essentially fallen out of love with music. But after a year of re-centering on his part, and some side projects for the rest of the band, they’ve found their way back. Back to the road. Back to writing songs filled with countercultural grit and traditional grace. And back to their first record in six years, A Cat in the Rain, out August 25.

All things considered, it’s one of the most anticipated albums in recent memory—and a joyous moment for fans and band alike.

Chef Scott Kroener joined Oak Steakhouse Nashville in 2022, bringing a focus on refined hospitality and seasonal menus that take their inspiration from a single ingredient with him. “I eat a particular ingredient and I start to think what would go with it. How can I get that on plate?” he says. “It snowballs from there.”

His crème brûlée cheesecake was born out of his love of desserts—emphasis on the plural. He tells a story of the early days dating his (now) wife when he took her to his restaurant for dinner. Dessert time approached and he ordered two of his favorites: a crème brûlée and a slice of cheesecake. She reminded him that she didn’t want anything and told him he could not eat two desserts. The chef came up with the perfect solution. “I started to think I could make them into one dessert. Voilà!” Kroener describes how easy it is to give this doubly delicious dessert a seasonal twist. “Take the ripest, freshest fruit that is in season and make a chutney, salsa, or compote,” he says. “Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and the fruit mixture.”
