Today's Tip For The Aspiring Compassionist

From Episode 206 - The Other Side of Fear: What's Really Holding Us Back

Active listening is hard because while someone else is talking, our brains are usually backstage rehearsing our next brilliant sentence.

And by brilliant, I mean suspiciously defensive with jazz hands.

But real listening means staying with the person in front of you.

Not planning your rebuttal. Not mentally building a PowerPoint called “Seven Reasons I Am Correct.” Or... eight... Just listening.

What are they actually saying? What are they feeling? What are they trying to trust you with?

So today, give someone the gift of your full attention before you give them your response.

It’s funny how resistant we are to change considering our bodies are basically rebuilding themselves nonstop behind the scenes.

New cells. New systems. New taste buds trying to convince us spinach isn’t the enemy.

So these slides are a few reminders that renewal might not be something God occasionally does. It might be part of the design itself.

If you want the full thought behind that, it’s waiting in the bio.

Today's Tip For The Aspiring Compassionist

From Episode 205 - God's Love And What It Teaches Us About Loving Others

Set Healthy Boundaries.

Compassion does not mean handing people unlimited access to your nervous system.

That is not love. That is a group project where you do all the emotional labor and somehow still get a C.

You can care about someone and still say, “This is not healthy for me.”

You can love someone and still step back.

You can have empathy without becoming a human doormat with inspirational quotes.

So today, protect your peace without turning your heart cold. Boundaries are not the opposite of compassion. Sometimes they are how compassion survives.

We tend to think of change as something happening to us.

But what if change is also something happening within us?

I talked about the biblical meaning of change, and how God may be remaking us in ways that are spiritual, physical, and far more constant than we realize.

Not just one big transformation moment. A daily renewal.

If that thought hits something in you, it’s waiting in the bio.

Unconditional Love
Unending fire
Two truths we wrestle with
But what if hell is not His judgment
Only guilt's prison
Built by us
Opened by forgiveness?

Today's Tip For The Aspiring Compassionist

From Episode 204 - Escaping The Blame Game: Compassion Over Blame

Compassion Over Blame.

Blame is easy.

Honestly, blame is almost too easy. It shows up fast, points dramatically, and says, “There. That person. That group. That’s the whole problem.”

Very confident. Rarely helpful.

Compassion asks us to slow down and admit that people, problems, and pain are usually more complicated than our first reaction wants them to be.

Blame builds walls. Compassion starts looking for doors.

So today, when you feel the urge to blame, pause and ask, “What am I not seeing yet?”
