Many of us have already heard about the passing of Malcolm-Jamal Warner—a name, a face, and a presence etched into our collective memory. As another cultural icon leaves us, we’re reminded of how precious and fleeting our time truly is. These legends shaped our childhoods, reflected our stories, and gave us pride in seeing ourselves on screen.
As we mourn, let’s also reflect: Love your people loudly. Check on them. Take care of your body, your mind, your spirit. Don’t wait to say “I love you” or “I’m proud of you.” Give folks their flowers now, because legacy is not promised—but love can be.
Rest well, Malcolm. Thank you for everything.

A timeless tribute to Black excellence.
Dr. André Churchwell—past Legacy Ball chair, longtime partner, and dear friend of the Boyd family—is featured in Ralph Lauren’s ‘Oak Bluffs’ Collection, a stunning homage to the history and legacy of HBCU culture on Martha’s Vineyard. This collection celebrates the sophistication, pride, and generational impact of our institutions—and we’re proud to see Dr. Churchwell honored among those carrying that legacy forward.

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we honor the enduring ideals of freedom, liberty, and justice for all. Today is a reminder of our nation’s progress—and of the work that still lies ahead.
At R.H. Boyd, we recognize that true independence is not just a historical milestone, but a daily commitment. In the face of current events that challenge equity, dignity, and truth, we stand with those continuing the fight for a more just and inclusive future.
May this holiday be both a celebration and a call to action. Let us move forward together—with hope, courage, and unity.
Wishing you a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day.

Juneteenth stands as a pivotal moment in African-American history and heritage, celebrated nationwide through various traditions that honor the end of enslavement in the United States.
On June 19, 1865, nearly two years after President Abraham Lincoln emancipated enslaved Africans in America, Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas with news of freedom. More than 250,000 African Americans embraced freedom by executive decree in what became known as Juneteenth or Freedom Day. With the principles of self-determination, citizenship, and democracy magnifying their hopes and dreams, those Texans held fast to the promise of true liberty for all.
This and every Juneteenth, we honor the spirit of freedom and the strength of our community. For generations, R.H. Boyd has created opportunities, preserved our history, and celebrated Black culture through faith, education, and storytelling. Together, we continue to build a lasting legacy.
